Transparency is important to us. That’s why we have joined the Transparent Civil Society Initiative (Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft). We are committed to providing the public with the following ten pieces of information and keeping them up to date.

Information on tax-exempt status

  • Our work is tax-exempt under Section 5 (1) No. 9 of the Corporate Income Tax Act (Körperschaftsteuergesetzes) and Section 3 No. 6 of the Trade Tax Act (Gewerbesteuergesetzes). This status, granted for the 2024–2026 assessment period (Freistellungsbescheid), is based on our promotion of development cooperation, disaster and civil protection, international understanding, tolerance across cultures, and public and vocational education, as confirmed by the exemption notice from the Berlin Corporate Tax Office I (Finanzamt für Körperschaften Berlin I); Tax ID 27/672/60038; dated November 18, 2024.

  • Since August 2024, MatchLocal e.V. is supported by four full-time personnel that are financed through individual scholarships of the Berliner Start-Up Stipendium. Their work is funded by the EU Social Fund, the State of Berlin, and Science and Startups.

  • The 2023 annual report provides an overview on page 2 of the sources of funding for MatchLocal. As a newly founded organisation, the yearly budget in 2023 only covered running costs. For this purpose, two donations by Dr. Diane Bombart and Dr. Joel Winckler (members of the board of directors) exceeded 10% of the yearly budget.
